Battersea Morn dates from 1877. It was first recorded as sold in October 1877. 1 In 1878 H. Stewart Cundell in an article on 'English Etchings' announced:
1: Whistler to M. B. Huish, 10 October 1877, GUW #12734.
'Mr Whistler, we are glad to learn, is resuming his etching, and among his most recent plates we may mention "Battersea - Morn," a most delightful work, with the effect of silver haze rendered with consummate skill; "Linsey [sic] Houses," a view at Chelsea in dry-point, "Greenhithe," and etchings of Temple Bar and Wych-street, which, when completed, will rank with his most masterly plates.' 2
