It was only shown once in Whistler's lifetime, in a print dealer's show, by Hermann Wunderlich & Co., New York, in 1898 (
). This impression, originally owned by Francis Seymour Haden, Sr (1818-1910), was bought from the show by Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919). 16 After Whistler's death this same impression was exhibited in New York at the Grolier Club in 1904. 17

There are only two known impressions and both were acquired, probably as gifts, by family members. The impression owned by Francis Seymour Haden, Sr (1818-1910) was sold with his collection to H. Wunderlich & Co., New York, and bought in 1898 by Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) (
