DESCRIPTION
A full-length portrait of a seated young woman. She sits turned to the left, but looking at the viewer, with her hands in her lap. She is wearing a plain, loose fitting coat and a hat with a narrow brim, a ribbon round the crown. She has short dark hair falling in a long fringe across her forehead. There is a little shading in the background.
SITTER
Nora Quinn has not been identified. The name suggests she was Irish. Given the simplicity of her clothes and somewhat downtrodden look, she may have been a servant, and almost certainly not a professional model.
