It was listed as 'The Garden Seat', in Whistler's studio, but the copper plate has not been located. 3 No size was given, and the plate may never have been completed. The word 'unfin', presumably meaning 'unfinished', was crossed out beside the title when it was listed by Beatrice Whistler (1857-1896). 4 This suggests that it was not completed, and could have been destroyed.
