TECHNIQUE
 This is pure etching.
PRINTING
There may have been a small print-run of up to ten impressions of Little Smithfield.  The first proof was printed in dark brown ink on cream 'modern' (post-1800) laid paper with a partial 'DE ERVEN DE BLAUW' watermark ( ); and some later impressions are also in dark brown on  ivory wove paper with 'JLLOYD' watermark (

) and on cream wove paper ( ). In fact each impression looks different on the varied  papers, with some being in  black ink, one on  off-white laid paper now darkened to yellowish grey (
