There is no signature or inscription.
The only known  impression, illustrated here, is touched with  black and grey ink behind and on the back of the girl's head and torso,  around her eye and on the ruffles of her dress; the series of slightly curved vertical lines below her and the butterfly signature at lower right are in graphite pencil ( ).

The only known impression  from the cancelled plate  was bound with a unique album, which mainly contained   the 'Cancelled Set' published by the Fine Art Society, London, in 1879 ( ).
