House-roofs is an unfinished sketch and probably dates from about 1874. It is very close in size to two copper plates of that date, Tatting [130] and The Muff [131]. Stylistically (from the little that can be seen) it can be compared to Speke Hall [140] and The Two Ships [143].
It may have been intended for publication in a set of Cancelled Etchings by the Fine Art Society in 1879, but not included in the album as published.
