STATE

Two states are known before cancellation.

State 1

Etching: K2850103
Signed with a butterfly to left.
The composition is complete. The shading in the lower part of the doorway is chiefly in parallel vertical lines.
Very fine slightly diagonal drypoint lines among the shading on the left side of the doorway are faint on some impressions.

State 2

Etching: K2850203
The lower part of the central upper pane in the window, above the woman's head, is shaded, and there is additional shading in the pane to its right; extensive cross-hatching is added in the doorway and extends further downward.

State 2 (cancelled)

Etching: PS_K285_01
Cancelled with crossed diagonal lines.

No impression from the cancelled plate is known. This is a digital image based on the copper plate. 8

8: A scan of the copper plate was flipped horizontally, converted to greyscale, and colour inverted, with enhanced contrast.
