EXHIBITIONS

Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) lent his impression to the exhibition organised by the Caxton Club in Chicago in 1900 () and probably to the Grolier Club exhibition in 1904 too (since no one else owned an impression there really was not much choice). 7

7: Chicago 1900 (cat. no. 252); New York 1904a (cat. no. 339).

SALES & COLLECTORS

The sole record of a sale was on 6 April 1891 when Whistler sold an impression to H. Wunderlich & Co., New York. This was bought in May by Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919), who bequeathed it to the Freer Gallery of Art, in 1919. 8
