It was recorded not entirely legibly as 'Scales / 7 x 5', during stocktaking in Whistler's studio. 5 This would be a copper plate of 178 x 127 mm. Since Whistler often gave width before height this could also mean it was a horizontal plate of 127 x 178mm. This is similar in size to several related subjects showing shops, including Exeter Street 274,
Nut Shop, St James's Place, Houndsditch 356, Melon Shop, Houndsditch 355 and Shaving and Shampooing 442.
