A Corner of the Palais Royal probably dates from 1886, the year it was first catalogued by Frederick Wedmore (1844-1921) 1 The butterfly signature is consistent with this date. The costumes of the fashionable ladies at left, and in particular the tall hat, somewhat like an inverted flower-pot, suggest this date.
1: Wedmore 1886 A[more] (cat. no. 201).
City scenes of similar date include Piccadilly 256, Little Dordrecht 260 and Fish-Shop, Chelsea 267, but no other etchings of Paris.
