PRINTING

Five impressions of 'Trixie' (Mrs Beatrice Whistler) are known. Whistler numbered the impressions as they were printed: '1st Proof' (Graphic with a link to impression #K4410103); '2nd Proof' (Graphic with a link to impression #K4410105); '3rd proof.' (Graphic with a link to impression #K4410104); 'No. 4.' (Graphic with a link to impression #K4410102); '5th Proof' (Graphic with a link to impression #K4410201). The impressions were printed in dark brown ink on ivory laid paper, except for the third proof, which has darkened to buff. All are trimmed to the platemark and signed on the tab with a butterfly and 'imp.' to show that Whistler had printed them.
