Under the Cathedral, Blois is pure etching.
PRINTING
Three impressions are known, all printed in dark brown ink. One, annotated '1st Proof -', was printed on ivory laid paper (
). Another, on cream Asian laid paper, is annotated '1st. State -' but since there was no second state this is not very helpful (
). The third bears no inscription, and is on ivory laid paper (
). All are trimmed to the platemark and signed on the tab with a butterfly and 'imp.' to show that Whistler printed them.
