PRINTING

One impression of The Courtyard, Brussels was printed in black ink on very thin off-white Japanese laid paper (Graphic with a link to impression #K3550110), but most are on western laid paper, one on a cream paper (Graphic with a link to impression #K3550109), several having a Pro Patria watermark (Graphic with a link to impression #K3550107, Graphic with a link to impression #K3550106, Graphic with a link to impression #K3550103) and one on cream with an Arms of Amsterdam watermark (Graphic with a link to impression #K3550102). All were printed with light, smooth plate tone. All were trimmed to the platemark leaving a tab for the butterfly signature and 'imp.' to show that Whistler had printed them.
