TECHNIQUE

Two studies of women is drawn with a very fine pointed needle in drypoint, with broad rectangular areas of shading in the background. One end of each line has considerably more burr than the lower end of the line, giving a curiously bitty effect. The patchwork hatching is rather more geometrical than was usual in Whistler's work, possibly because the drypoint was not finished.

PRINTING

Only one impression is known, and it was printed in brown ink on laid paper with a partial 'Pro Patria' watermark (Graphic with a link to impression #K1200102).
