PUBLICATION

A single impression of Resting was taken (Graphic with a link to impression #K1190201) possibly with a view to publication in the set of cancelled plates by the Fine Art Society in 1879, but it was dropped from the published album.

EXHIBITIONS

It was not exhibited in Whistler's lifetime. An impression was shown at the Whistler Memorial exhibition in London in 1905. 5

5: London Mem. 1905 (cat. no. 105).

SALES & COLLECTORS

The only known impression was bought by Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) in 1903. The cancelled impression was in a unique album, given by Mrs Hannah D. Rabinowitz to the Yale University Art Gallery in 1960.
