Fusco dates from 1872. Whistler wrote 'Dry point. 72.' on one impression for Samuel Putnam Avery (1822-1904) ().
However, according to Wedmore: 'This dry-point was done in 1872, and exhibited that year at the Gallery, 168 New Bond Street, under the management of M. Deschamps. It was called “An Etching”.' 1
