Inscribed in an arc across the top, 'Treize Eaux Fortes d'apres Nature - ' and in the centre, below the figures, 'par / James. Whistler -. / à / Mon viel Ami Seymour Haden.' and along the bottom 'Imp. Delatre Rue St. Jacques. 171.' at left, and 'Paris. Nov. 1858.' at right. The second 'E', and 'F', the first 's' and first 'd', and the 's' in both 'James' and 'Whistler' are reversed.
