Etching: PE06_01 (plate)
The copper plate bears the maker's stamp: 'HUGHES & KIMBER (LIMITED) / MANUFACTURERS / LONDON E.C.' The same stamp appears on another plate of the same size and date, Little Nude Figure [330], and on an etching that may be of a slightly earlier date, The Tow-Path [325].
The plate was in Whistler's studio at his death and bequeathed to Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958), who gave it to the University of Glasgow in 1935. It was cancelled posthumously with a diagonal line.
