Lady Colin Campbell probably dates from between 1887 and 1889. Whistler painted Harmony in White and Ivory: Portrait of Lady Colin Campbell [y354] in 1886, and both he and his wife were friendly with Lady Colin Campbell in the late 1880s and early 1890s.
The first definite reference to this print is by Beatrice Whistler (1857-1896), who noted 'Colin Campbell Lady Dry Point Indication' in a list, about 1890/1892. 1
