The only known exhibition during Whistler's lifetime was at H. Wunderlich & Co. in   New York in 1898  ( ).  6 However,  after Whistler's death this same impression, which had been purchased by  Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919),  was shown at two of the Memorial Exhibitions,  at the Grolier Club in New York in 1904, and in London in 1905. 7
