TECHNIQUE
It was drawn with both etched and drypoint lines, the drypoint wearing down quickly.
PRINTING
There was only a small print-run. Impressions were printed in dark brown ink on ivory laid paper with a partial watermark (
), and in black (
) and dark brown ink on ivory laid paper (
). It was usually printed with light tone, graduated from the top to darker at the bottom, with the sheet trimmed to the platemark and signed on the tab with a butterfly and 'imp.' to show that Whistler printed it.
