SALES & COLLECTORS
Whistler sold an impression of 'Stooping Figure', which may have been this etching, in February 1888 to the London print dealer Thomas M. McLean (b. ca 1832) for £5.5.0. 10 Another impression of the 'Stooping Figure' was noted as in Whistler's studio in 1890/1891. 11 He sold one in September 1897 to H. Wunderlich & Co. of New York for £3.3.0, and another, described as 'Nude figure stooping' in 1900 at the same price. 12
The only known collectors are John Caldwell (fl. 1887-1907) () and Bryan Lathrop (1844-1916) () who may well have bought them from Wunderlich's.
