Perambulator, King's Road was never published.

It was extremely rare and rarely exhibited. Impressions were shown in New York by the print dealers H. Wunderlich & Co. in 1898 and 1903. 9 It was also exhibited, after Whistler's death, in the comprehensive exhibition at the Grolier Club, New York, in 1904. 10 There is no record of exhibitions in Britain.

9: New York 1898 (cat. no. 181); New York 1903b (cat. no. 246).

10: New York 1904a (cat. no. 323).

On 11 February 1888 Whistler sold an impression for £5.5.0 to the London print dealer, Thomas M. McLean (b. ca 1832). Another impression was sold through Wunderlich's of New York to Ross Revillon Winans (1850-1912) on 3 May 1888. 11

Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) bought an impression from Obach & Co. in London in 1902 (Graphic with a link to impression #K2780102). Howard Mansfield (1849-1938) probably bought his impression from Wunderlich's (Graphic with a link to impression #K2780105), for it has their account number ('a 26899') on the verso.

11: Whistler to T. M. McLean, GUW #13018. Wunderlich & Co. to Whistler, GUW #07158.
