This is by far the smallest of the surviving Corsican etchings. It is the same size as an unfinished plate, Sheep
[487].
The copper plate was in Whistler's studio at his death and was given to the University of Glasgow by Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) in 1935. It was cancelled posthumously with a diagonal line across the lower right corner.
