TECHNIQUE
The style of drawing, with comparatively large patches of diagonal shading, shows the influence or rather the converging styles of Beatrice and Whistler. The drypoint burr is conspicuous in all the impressions of this work.
PRINTING
Five impressions of 'Trixie' (Mrs Beatrice Whistler) are known. Whistler numbered the impressions as they were printed: '1st Proof' (); '2nd Proof' (); '3rd proof.' (); 'No. 4.' (); '5th Proof' (). The impressions were printed in dark brown ink on ivory laid paper, except for the third proof, which has darkened to buff. All are trimmed to the platemark and signed on the tab with a butterfly and 'imp.' to show that Whistler had printed them.
