EXHIBITIONS
It was very rare indeed, and so rarely exhibited. No exhibition is recorded in Whistler's lifetime. However it was shown in Memorial Exhibitions after Whistler's death, in Paris in 1905, and, lent by Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958), in an exhibition in Rotterdam in 1906 (). 11
11: Paris Mem. 1905 (cat. no. 434); Rotterdam 1906 (cat. no. 34).
SALES & COLLECTORS
The two known impressions were in Whistler's estate at his death. One was sold by Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) to Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) in 1904 (), and the other given to the University of Glasgow in 1935 ().
