STATE
Six states are known before cancellation.
State 1
Signed with a butterfly on the lower part of the shed, above and to left of centre.
The composition is complete.
State 2
Some of the reflections, and the small bridge at far right, have been modified by rubbing down and redrawn.
State 3
A woman holding a child in her arms stands behind a fence at right centre, and the small window panes to her left have been partly shaded; there is additional shading on the brickwork of the long building; the hides or cloths hung up at left have faded or been lightened; the window pane to right of the cloths has new shading; fine diagonal shading is added on the woman in the doorway; shading is added on the foundations of the building at left and under the small bridge at far right; some lightening of the reflections is combined with additional light shading and cross-hatching on the reflections.
State 4
The hide or cloth hanging at left has been lightened; the lower pane of the window to left of the woman standing in the doorway is lightened in the lower part.
State 5
Patches of shading are added in the middle of the cloth at left and on the window panes to right of it.
