SALES & COLLECTORS
Whistler kept one impression for himself (). It was bequeathed to Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) who passed it to the University of Glasgow.
Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) bought the impression from Wunderlich's in 1889, and bequeathed it to the Freer Gallery of Art (). Howard Mansfield (1849-1938) acquired the Knoedler's impression (it was No. 10 in their list, and '(No 10)' is written on the verso) and it was later bought by Harris G. Whittemore (d. ca 1937), and then by the Library of Congress ().
