EXHIBITIONS

SALES & COLLECTORS
The '1st Proof' was sold by Whistler to the New York print dealers, H. Wunderlich & Co., for £8.8.0 on 6 April 1891. 8 This was the sole known impression, and was acquired by Howard Mansfield (1849-1938) () and then, through A. A. Hahlo & Co., New York, by Harris G. Whittemore (d. ca 1937); it was later bought by the Library of Congress.
