The Market, Bruges is an etching.
PRINTING
Only three impressions of The Market, Bruges have been located but at least five are recorded. All were printed in black ink on laid paper, one of these being on cream paper with a Pro Patria 'AS' watermark (), one on ivory () and another on buff, or more likely ivory paper darkened to buff (). All are trimmed to - or beyond - the platemark and signed with a butterfly and 'imp.' (to show that Whistler had printed them) dating from 1887.
