It was not exhibited in Whistler's lifetime, but was shown in the comprehensive Memorial Exhibitions after his death including the Grolier Club in New York in 1904 and the London Memorial in 1905. 6

SALES & COLLECTORS
Whistler sold one impression on 27 July 1888 to Knoedler & Co. for £6.6.0. 7 This was later given by Lessing Julius Rosenwald (1891-1971) to the National Gallery of Art ().
