TECHNIQUE
It is pure drypoint, very light and delicate, with the fine lines slightly enhanced by light graduated ink tone on most impressions.
PRINTING
The drypoint is fairly rare. Impressions are in dark brown () or black ink () on ivory laid paper; in black on ivory laid paper, possibly with an Arms of Amsterdam watermark (); and also in brown ink on very thin buff laid paper () and on an ivory laid paper with the watermark of a Hunting horn in a shield (). All are trimmed to the platemark and signed on the tab with a butterfly and 'imp.' to show that Whistler had printed them.
