TECHNIQUE
The plate for The Bucking Horse, Wild West was etched, with just a few drypoint touches added on and below the figures at lower right.
PRINTING
The first proof was printed in black ink on cream laid paper (), and another in black ink on a sheet of cream laid paper taken from a book, with the binding holes visible along the left edge (). Although most are trimmed to the platemark and signed with a butterfly and 'imp.' on the tab to show Whistler printed them, one - the last mentioned - is signed in this manner but not trimmed (). Several impressions are in dark brown ink on ivory laid paper (i.e. , , , ).
