TECHNIQUE
Old Battersea Bridge, No. 2 is mainly etched, with some fine, extremely light drypoint shading.
PRINTING
Few impressions have been located, although Whistler's sales records suggest that he printed as many as six. The earliest proof was printed in brown ink on cream laid paper (
). Two are in dark brown ink on ivory laid paper (, ) and the sole extant impression of the second state is a sharp impression in black (or very dark brown) ink on off-white laid paper (). All are trimmed to the platemark and signed on the tab with a butterfly and 'imp.' to show that Whistler had printed them.
