The copper plate is close in size to Piccadilly [256], dating probably from 1886, and Château d'Amboise [431], whixh dates from 1888.
The plate was in Whistler's studio at his death and was bequeathed to Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958), who gave it to the University of Glasgow in 1935. It was cancelled posthumously with a diagonal line from the upper right corner to the centre of the lower edge.
