PRINTING
There is one impression in black ink on ivory laid paper () but most are in dark brown ink on laid paper. One, signed and inscribed with the title by Whistler, is on ivory paper (); another, also on ivory paper, is marked with a tiny reversed 'c' on the verso, possibly a mark of approval or selection by Whistler (); another is on buff 'antique' (pre-1800) paper (), a fourth on ivory paper with a partial Hunting Horn or Strasbourg Lily watermark (); and a fifth on cream paper with a partial D & W BLAUW watermark (). They were trimmed to the platemark and signed on the tab with a butterfly and 'imp.' to show that Whistler printed them.
