PRINTING

There is one impression in black ink on ivory laid paper (Graphic with a link to impression #K3020102) but most are in dark brown ink on laid paper. One, signed and inscribed with the title by Whistler, is on ivory paper (Graphic with a link to impression #K3020105); another, also on ivory paper, is marked with a tiny reversed 'c' on the verso, possibly a mark of approval or selection by Whistler (Graphic with a link to impression #K3020108); another is on buff 'antique' (pre-1800) paper (Graphic with a link to impression #K3020111), a fourth on ivory paper with a partial Hunting Horn or Strasbourg Lily watermark (Graphic with a link to impression #K3020105); and a fifth on cream paper with a partial D & W BLAUW watermark (Graphic with a link to impression #K3020104). They were trimmed to the platemark and signed on the tab with a butterfly and 'imp.' to show that Whistler printed them.
