TECHNIQUE

In this etching, the background trees and buildings are roughly sketched, the lines of the building and window panes slightly uneven. The figures are drawn with short curved and wriggly broken lines. There are a lot of dots from foul biting around the baby in the foreground, making her look as if she is surrounded by bees.

PRINTING

Only one impression has been located, and it was printed in black ink on ivory laid paper, trimmed to the platemark and signed on a tab with Whistler's butterfly and 'imp.' to show that he had printed it (Graphic with a link to impression #K2980102).
