TECHNIQUE
The main composition was etched, but drypoint was used for shadows on and around the woman in the central doorway and shadows in the interior.
PRINTING
There was only a small print-run of Justice Walk, Chelsea. The first state was printed in dark brown ink on thin ivory 'antique' (pre-1800) laid paper (). The second state was printed in brown (, ) or black ink () on ivory laid paper, with very light plate tone. All were trimmed to the platemark and signed on the tab with a butterfly and 'imp.' to show that Whistler had printed them.
