State 1

Impression: K2650101
There is no signature or inscription.
According to Mansfield, 'The butterfly, in outline, is suggested in the central lower pane of the window.' 8 However, if so, it is well camouflaged in a pile of fruit.

8: Mansfield 1909 (cat. no. 261).

State 2

Impression: K2650202
Short, fine drypoint lines are added on the lower part of the window-pane at left along with more shading around the woman in the centre.

State 3

Impression: K2650203
Considerable new etched shading is added around the woman in the centre; the heads of the figures to left and right of that woman are redefined.

State 4

Not reproduced.
The woman at the centre and the shadowed area around her have been removed.
No impression of this state is known. It is known only fom the copper plate. A digital image from the plate is reproduced below.
