TECHNIQUE
The composition was outlined in etched lines. Dense cross-hatching built up the shadowed area of the awning. The drypoint shading wore down in late impressions.
PRINTING
There was a very small print-run. Whistler printed the first impressions in 1886, and then printed a further four impressions on 26 September 1887. 10
One was printed in black ink on ivory laid paper (), and several in dark brown ink on similar paper (, , ). In the latter, the drypoint appears to be wearing down.
