Two states are known before cancellation.

State 1

Signed 'Whistler.' at upper right, and, faintly, 'Whistler' in the upper right corner.

State 2

Impression: K0880202
The faint signature at upper right has been erased; curving lines are added in drypoint on the right arm at the top of the sleeve and at the lower edge, and zigzag lines below the elbow.

State 2 (cancelled)

Etching: PS_K088_01 (plate)
Cancelled with vigorous diagonal lines all over the figure and musical instruments.
