PRINTING

There may have been a print-run of about ten impressions. Of these, three are from the first state - a touched proof in black ink on off-white wove paper (Graphic with a link to impression #K0880102), an impression in warm brown/black ink on ivory 'modern' (post-1800) laid paper (Graphic with a link to impression #K0880103) and another in black on a medium-weight laid paper (Graphic with a link to impression #K0880203). The final state was printed in black on ivory (Graphic with a link to impression #K0880204) and tan (Graphic with a link to impression #K0880205) chine appliqué.
An impression from the cancelled plate (Graphic with a link to impression #K0880301) was bound with a set of cancelled etchings that were published by the Fine Art Society in 1879, but this was not included in the publication, and may, indeed, never have been intended for publication.
