TECHNIQUE

The composition was mostly etched, augmented with delicate drypoint that faded and had to be replaced as it wore down. Lochnan commented:

PRINTING

Almost all impressions are printed in black ink. The first state was printed on off-white thin laid Japanese paper, cleanly wiped (Graphic with a link to impression #K0760105), the second on off-white 'antique' (pre-1800) laid paper with a 'Pro Patria' over 'NP' watermark (Graphic with a link to impression #K0760202).
The published edition was printed mainly on variations of the De Erven de Blauw and Beehive 'DEDB' watermark on ivory or cream laid (Graphic with a link to impression #K0760303, Graphic with a link to impression #K0760306, Graphic with a link to impression #K0760z06, Graphic with a link to impression #K0760329, Graphic with a link to impression #K0760315, Graphic with a link to impression #K0760z07, Graphic with a link to impression #K0760310, Graphic with a link to impression #K0760325, Graphic with a link to impression #K0760331, Graphic with a link to impression #K0760338).
Others were printed on a variety of papers: cream 'antique' laid (Graphic with a link to impression #K0760304); off-white laid with a shield watermark (Graphic with a link to impression #K0760302); ivory 'antique' (pre-1800) laid with Strasbourg Lily watermark, taken from a ledger with blue edges (Graphic with a link to impression #K0760328); cream laid with Arms of Amsterdam watermark (Graphic with a link to impression #K0760333); cream 'modern' laid (Graphic with a link to impression #K0760326) and ivory card-like wove (Graphic with a link to impression #K0760308). Some are on Asian papers, including ivory Japanese laid (Graphic with a link to impression #K0760305, Graphic with a link to impression #K0760317) and light-weight cream Japanese (Graphic with a link to impression #K0760z05).
There are two impressions from the cancelled plate, printed in black ink on 'modern' laid paper (Graphic with a link to impression #K0760402).
