Impressions taken from this plate (61) |
The copper plate bears no maker's stamp on the verso, and is different in size from any other etching. 'Battersea' is incised on the verso.
The plate was published with the 'Thames Set' in 1871. It was cancelled with three ruled horizontal lines crossed by ruled diagonal lines from corner to corner.
The cancelled plate was acquired with other plates from that set by Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) in 1896 and was bequeathed to the Freer Gallery of Art. 13
