Impressions taken from this plate (118) |
The copper plate has no maker's mark, and is different in size from any other copper plate. It was first published with the 'Thames Set' in 1871, and later, in the 1890s.
It was cancelled with four ruled lines making a large diamond touching each edge, a dotted line in a rough circle, and eight small scattered crosses.
The plate was acquired by Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919), together with plates for the rest of the 'Thames Set', in 1896, and was bequeathed to the Freer Gallery of Art in 1919. 13
