The copper plate bears the stamp of 'HUGHES / 107 SHOE LANE / FLEET ST / LONDON' on the verso. Only one other copper plate - Annie
[7] - has a stamp with the address in Shoe Lane (though not exactly in this form). Hughes & Kimber became Whistler's preferred suppliers of copper plates. The plate is a different size from all other plates.
The plate was steel-faced but not cancelled. It was bought by Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) in 1906. It is now in the Freer Gallery of Art. 6
