STATES
Two states are known.
State 1
Signed 'Whistler' at upper right.
With dark, even, vertical and diagonal shading on the wall above the sleeping dog.
State 2
Vertical and diagonal shading lines above the sleeping dog are reduced in strength, particularly on the upper part of the wall.
The lines look underinked, rather than 'reduced', in the area above the dog, but there are so many impressions with this appearance that it must represent a second state. It is also possible that the plate was damaged in that area.
