TECHNIQUE

Seymour, Standing was done in pure etching. The treatment of the face is similar to other early portraits of the Haden children. There are extensive signs of burnishing creating a faint area of texture in the background, which, apart from the light shadow to left, is blank.

PRINTING

There are only two impressions known (Graphic with a link to impression #K0060102, Graphic with a link to impression #K0060001). The first state is printed in black ink on cream 'modern' (post-1800) laid paper. The second state, also in black ink, was printed on ivory chine on off-white wove paper (chine collé).
